If you want to explore Hadrians Wall and take your dogs at the same time then here are a selection of pet friendly holiday homes which will welcome 2 dogs and their guests of course!

The Deeps, Blanchland. You have your own field to walk the dogs plus miles of pathways and forest tracks. Good fencing helps with security and no road traffic at all.

The Valley of the South Tyne is one of Northumberland’s hidden secrets. Running from Haltwhistle up to Alston this was once a busy conduit connecting Alston and the lead mines with the railway network between Newcastle and Carlisle. These days it has largely been forgotten and now slumbers gently along with few visitors and just the wildlife, views and history.

Ald White Craig consists of 4 separate houses all on the same site just to the south of Hadrian’s Wall and close to the market town of Haltwhistle. They have been converted specifically to welcome holiday makers. The houses are on a hillside facing south with good views. There is easy access onto both the A69 running between Carlisle and Newcastle as well as up onto the military road.

Each “cottage” has Wifi fitted and pets are welcome.

You can book more than one of the “cottages” at any time so that you can have separate accommodation for large family gatherings and celebrations.

Cornhill on Tweed offers easy access to all the attractions of the Scottish borders as well as being just a short drive to the Northumberland coast or the Cheviot hills.
Loan View is a good quality holiday house, sleeps 6, pets are allowed and it has been awarded 4 stars.

Things to do:

Walking. For local walks see here.

There is also good walking towards the Cheviots. The Cheviot Walks website is a good guide. For more details about the College Valley check out Hethpool Mill and it’s blog.

Cycling. Surprisingly popular around here with lots of small roads to explore and the valley is quite easy to cycle along. This PDF will show you four rides centred upon Cornhill.

We have to admit to having a life long love of the Allendale valley. With its history, bastle houses and quiet lanes we think it is rather special.

Stoney Law is a large detached house sitting on its own and with great views.

Wynding Head – Bamburgh

A few more pictures to help show just what a good house Wynding Head is. These pictures should give you a good feel for where the house is and what is around it. You are just a very short walk from the castle, the beach and the small road with art gallery, shops and eating.
